Our commitment to training has led us to develop two in-house programmes: Leo Fundamentals and the Burnett Management Programme. Leo Fundamentals is a 2-year course that gives executives a solid foundation in advertising by exposing them to all aspects of the industry. The Burnett Management Programme uses a module-based curriculum to teach senior members in the team with modern management skills and empower them as leaders.
Getting the basics right is the first step towards becoming a well rounded advertising person.

Leo Fundamentals (LF) is a 2-year programme that takes the young Burnetters in the team through the various disciplines of today's marketing communications industry. These young porfessionals are taught the various basics of Brand Management, Agency operations and Media fundamentals to the concept of ideas and integration.

The faculty comprises of experiences professionals from the agency as well as from the industry.
Targeted at the management cadre of the company, this programme grooms the agency's leaders of tomorrow. The Burnett Management Programme (BMP) is a rigorous course that goes beyond advertising and ensures that its participants acquire a better idea on how to manage a business and people.

The programme comprise of modules on Leadership, Economics, Finance, Marketing and Negotiations. It is tutored by some of the best trainers in the country and from the region.
The Leo Burnett Colombo training is an integral part of the annual calendar. The programme includes off-site workshops, in-house training sessions and discipline-focused activities. A combination of people from the agency and from the Ad business fraternity in Sri Lanka, as well as resources from our global network who visit the Colombo office, serve as the trainers for the various programmes.

We hold training sessions throughout the year, some of which are tutored by esteemed professionals, conducting life-changing workshops and seminars. Clients and partners are regularly invited to attend some of the sessions.

  • Ranil de Silva & Chrishani Kotalawela attended the 'Breakfast in Chicago' at the Leo Burnett Worldwide Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, USA in 2005.

  • Selonica Nalawansa & Michelle Georgesz took part in the 'Participate-Associate-Communicate' (PAC) 2007 Programme for Young Professionals conducted by the IAA UK, held Merton College at Oxford University. Selonica won the 'Best International Presenter' Award.

  • 17 young Burnetters attended a 4 day 'Leo Foundations' Training Course titled 'Turning Point' in Pondicherry, India in 2007.

  • Teams from Leo Burnett were the 1st Sri Lankan delegation attends the Spikes Asia Advertising Festival in 2008.

  • Firzan Mulafer and Lalindra Amarasekera won the 1st ever Sri Lankan Young Lions Championship and represented the country at the Young Lions Film Competition at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival of Creativity in France in 2009.

  • Surani Perera was selected as Sri Lanka's representative and attended the Roger Hatchuel Academy at the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival in France in 2009.

  • Marsh Dodanwela was invited to address the Leo Burnett Regional Digital Boot Camp in Singapore in 2010.

  • Every year 2 contingents of Burnetters is selected to attend ADFEST - Asia Pacific Advertising Festival in Pataya, Thailand and the Spikes Asia Advertising Festival in Singapore. A select few are chosen to attend the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival in France.
